Presentation of trophies – 4pm at Picky – trophies will be awarded for the fastest riders at each distance.

Teams – riders can take part as a team of 3 all starting together at 1pm and riding the same 1 lap course or as a relay of 3 riders riding 3 consecutive laps. We will announce the best team results but at this time have no plans for team trophies. Teams need to be identified in advance on the entry forms.

Event closes at 4.30pm

Start and finish at Picky.

Sports therapists will be on hand throughout the day and anyone wanting to book a massage at Picky will be able to do so at the registration tent either before or after the event for a nominal fee. Showers and other facilities including food will be available inside Picky.

Adverts and posters will shortly be appearing. This has been a good fundraising event in previous years and a good turnout would give a clear signal to potential funders and also make a significant dent in the costs of participating teams going to Rhodes.

Some teams will have other commitments and this is inevitable. However, we hope that as many other participants as possible will take part.

Junior Sponsored Cycle

Because of the timing of the event it has been decided not to organise a junior sponsored cycle this year. It is hoped to incorporate a junior event next time

Safety

To ensure that you are safe and enjoy the OIGA cycling event we recommend the following:

Getting your bike ready

To ensure your bike is in good condition and road worthy and capable of withstanding the 33, 66 or 99-miles please check:

  • Your tyres for wear and any cuts in the tread
  • Properly inflated tyres – poorly inflated tyres is the biggest cause of punctures
  • Brakes are working correctly and not rubbing the wheel rim or sidewall of the tyre
  • The gears change smoothly and all work correctly
  • No fraying brake and gear cables
  • Saddle is at the correct height
  • There is a bottle cage fitted to the bike

If you have any concerns regarding the road worthiness of your bike we recommend that you have your bike serviced prior to the event.

What do I need?

To enable you to enjoy the event and complete your distance we recommend the following equipment:

  • Cycling shorts with padding or gel saddle
  • Visible clothing to aid motorists
  • Cycling gloves to protect your hands
  • Properly sized cycling helmet
  • Waterproofs in case of inclement weather
  • Minimum of 1 water bottle
  • Mobile phone in case of breakdown or accident
  • Puncture repair kit or spare inner tube
  • Banana’s or energy bars
  • Sun screen (we can only hope)
  • Identification and emergency contact details in case of an accident on the course
  • Plenty of enthusiasm and energy
